The first live mash-up music concert to be organised in Sri Lanka, Synchronight will hit Colombo at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre on Friday, March 10 from 7 pm to 10 pm.
Mash-up music has, with a following the world over, become quite a trend in Sri Lanka. The event will be the first time that professional artistes will come together for such an endeavour. Among those who will come and perform are Bathiya and Santhush, Umaria, Chitral Somapala, Lahiru Perera, Sanuka Wickramasinghe, Billy Fernando, and the band Jayasri.
While there clearly is a logistical challenge for its organisers, given the novelty of the event, the creative arrangement has been done in order to ensure a veritable musical kaleidoscope. The organisers vouch that it will be a celebration of pure music, unlike the conventional concert in vogue today where music and dancing are intertwined, and as such will draw heavily from music lovers over the country. They also hope that it will provide a launch pad for other similarly themed shows in other cities in Sri Lanka, including Galle, Negombo, and Jaffna.
Synchronight is organised by Flexus Productions, while the creative music arrangement has been done by Billy Fernando and his band 2Forty2.
